Support the banning of turtle eggs consumption in Malaysia

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Turtle is one of the world's many endangered species that might face extinction within years if preservations are not done immediately from now. These reptiles are known for their longevity and swam great distances. Only once a year, they will come to shore to nest.

There are four species of marine turtles found in Malaysia. They are Leatherback turtle, Green turtle, Hawksbill turtle and Olive ridley turtle.

Sadly, the appearance of these turtles at the Malaysia shore is getting lesser and lesser. Over the last 30 years, turtle nestlings have dwindled by as much as 60%.

What causes the extinction of turtles?

1.) Habitat degradation and destruction.

2.) Incidental and direct capture of turtles.

Incidental:

A sea turtle killed by a fishing line.

Direct:

Turtles killed for their shells and flesh.

3.) Consumption and trade of turtle eggs.

Why humans eat turtle eggs?

Myth: Turtle eggs are believed to provide fertility and serve as an aphrodisiac. Some believe that these eggs provide a nutritious diet.

What scientists say: Turtle eggs contain high amount of cholesterol. One turtle egg contains the same amount of cholesterol as 20 chicken eggs. Besides, the nutritional value is only 50% of a chicken egg, which is a contrary of the believe.

As you can see, the extinction of turtles are mainly caused by human cruelty, if not, indirectly.
Cruel acts such as killing of turtles and turtle eggs consumption should be banned completely.

Back in 2010, WWF Malaysia launched an advocacy campaign for turtles with the title "Egg=Life". Although the title is short but it is straight forward and simple enough for anyone to understand. The message is clear. Each turtle egg represents a life. And a turtle's life is as precious as our lives.

Now, we are given a chance to play a part in conserving the extinction of turtles and put a stop to the consumption of turtle eggs. WWF has held an online effort to amend Malaysia's law and it is our responsibility to support it. Say NO to turtle eggs consumption and let our words be heard.

Let's show our love for turtles by following a few simple steps.

I'm sorry but the campaign is already over. A big thank you to those who supported it!

June's Surprises

Friday, June 29, 2012

Hi guys! I'm finally back at home where the internet connection is at a normal rate. Home sweet home.... My hostel's wifi connection is always going at a slowpoke rate that it gives me high blood pressure. Believe me when I described it as a slowpoke. It's so...so........sloooow that the only page I can load is this:

Google Homepage!  -.-''

See how slow it is?!! *Ah.....my blood pressure!* lol

With this kind of slow rate, I've decided to update my blog only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So don't visit my blog during the weekdays, got upset and ask....

Hahaha! Ok......enough nonsense already.

I realised I haven't been blogging actively for the past few months unlike last time when I used to blog more than 15 posts per month. What were I doing all these while? No idea.....probably busy doing nothing.

Mummy's weird breakfast

Saturday, June 23, 2012

I woke up pretty late this morning because it's SATURDAY and I slept pretty late than usual yesterday. When I got down to where the dining table was, I found that my breakfast was already prepared.
Aww.... mum, that's so nice of you.

But when I take a look at my breakfast,

EGGS WITH GINGER AND COOKED LIVER

WTH was that?

But then my mum's response was:

Gosh mum, how could you compare me to a vampire?

Joke of the day

Mid 2012 kpop rookie singer: Juniel

想念着茫茫人海中的那一个微笑。 =)

*****

I haven't been listening to any kpop songs for quite sometime and was rather outdated already since allkpop constantly have their readers updated everyday and I don't have the time to read all the articles posted there. Anyway, the point is.....I haven't been updating myself with kpop songs until just recently, a few days ago, I found this!

By korean rookie singer, Juniel.

This one is a duet with C.N.Blue's Yong Hwa. This song is so sweet and relaxing! Love this!

This song is not bad either. Another of my favourite from her album.

Although just a rookie, both of her songs have topping various k-charts. A good start I should say.
If you have listen to her songs, you would realise that her voice sounds like IU and their styles are similar. So you can now start to imagine the fan war(not another again) between IU's fan and Juniel's calling the idols copycats. Actually I have fun reading those comments written by the fans arguing who is better. I know IU is a kpop legend for conquering the kpop industry with her powerful and soothing voice at a young age but honestly, I have never like any of her songs. I just don't like the style. Juniel might not have equally powerful voice like IU but she has her own style so she is in no position to be compared to IU. Both of them are just similar but different. I like Juniel's acoustic ballad style which is always my favourite style of songs. So I hope Juniel will continue to shine(I have a feeling she will no matter how much IU's fan hate her) with this style.

Wow, here I have two 2012 favourite kpop rookie singers Ailee and Juniel. Hmm....I wonder who else will be included in this list? Anyway, my number one favourite singer is still Taeyeon.

Oh yeah! I heard that SNSD is releasing their new music video "Paparazzi" on Youtube today. Do check it out.
