25 different headband styles of miss A's Suzy in KBS drama 'Big'

Saturday, July 21, 2012

After Suzy's much lovable character as Ko Hye-Mi in KBS drama Dream High back in 2011, she is now back again, starring as Jang Mari in the drama series 'Big'.

Her appearance in the drama had caught the attention of many viewers, not just for her looks but her headbands too.

These are several combined screenshots of Miss A's Suzy taken by fans in her recent KBS2 drama 'Big'.

It seems like Suzy's character as Jang Mari has a stylish fashion sense for headbands.

What do you think? Which are your favourites out of the 25 images?

I definitely have more than one favourite.

Book review: Lone Wolf

Sunday, July 8, 2012

"Sometimes, survival means sacrifice." - Lone Wolf, Jodi Picoult

If you love "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult, you would definitely love this.
I bought this book, "Lone Wolf" during March when I had to spent that free RM200 book voucher before the end of March. Despite the pricing of RM47.90 (after 20% discount) which is higher than the average cost of books out there, I still bought it and yeah, it's totally worth it!

Synopsis:
Luke Warren has spent his life researching wolves. In many ways, Luke understands wolf dynamics better than those of his family. His wife, Georgie, finally gave up on their marriage and left him. His son, Edward, fled six years ago, leaving a shattered relationship with his father. Then comes a frantic phone call: Luke has been gravely injured in a car accident with Edward's younger sister, Cara.
Now, Edward must return home to face the father he walked out on at the age of eighteen. He and Cara have to decide their father's fate. How can any family member make such a decision in the face of guilt, pain, or both?

"Lone Wolf" brilliantly describes the nature of a family: the love, protection, and strength it can offer and the price we might have to pay for those gifts. What happens when the hope that should sustain a family is the very thing tearing it apart?

My review:
I have always been a fan of Jodi Picoult although I have not read all of her books yet. What makes me a fan is that Jodi Picoult never fails to write about the importance of family values.

In "Lone Wolf" both Cara and Edward struggles to find the best solution, that is to either end their father's life or continues to let him live with the help of a life support. Both of them have different opinions in deciding their father's life, but with their own reasons. Should they just agree to let go of their father? Or wait for miracle to happen? It is one of life's difficult decisions to make because neither of it is right or wrong. What would you do if you were in Cara or Edward's situation? What would be your decision?

However, miracles don't always happen in Jodi Picoult's books. Unlike the ending in "My Sister's Keeper", the ending of "Lone Wolf" forces us to accept the reality and the fact that miracles don't always happen no matter how hard you wish for it. It also reminds us that sometimes, survival means sacrifice.

Have you read any books written by Jodi Picoult? Are you a fan of her books too? Which one is your favourite?

So, July is here....

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Dear i-diary,

Life has been pretty much the same lately. Boring lectures, meeting random people, here and there, completing tutorials and, of course, assignments. *yawnage*

Midterms are around the corner and assignment deadlines aren't far either. That means I will not be able to update my blog that often anymore but I'll try my best to update whenever I can and make them worth reading. Yeah....try. my. best. lol~

Anyway, I've just set up a new blog and am working on it but it is scheduled to launch only at the end of December or maybe next year. Yeah....that'll be my second blog apart from this. I'm so excited!
This blog has been buried here for such a long time that I'm worried it might not even have the chance to see the light anymore. Haha...I'm exaggerating. This blog is getting a silver lining already. I hope it'll get to see the bright shining sun soon.

Not much to write about today. I'm still working on the Lone Wolf book review. It has been in my draft box for toooooo long. Hopefully I can post that review by the end of this week.

That's all I guess.
Bye~

OST of the month

I love listening to slow songs in the still silent night. The atmosphere that it produces never fail to give me some nostalgic moments.

Here's an OST from one of the latest korean drama: Big.

Support the banning of turtle eggs consumption in Malaysia

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Turtle is one of the world's many endangered species that might face extinction within years if preservations are not done immediately from now. These reptiles are known for their longevity and swam great distances. Only once a year, they will come to shore to nest.

There are four species of marine turtles found in Malaysia. They are Leatherback turtle, Green turtle, Hawksbill turtle and Olive ridley turtle.

Sadly, the appearance of these turtles at the Malaysia shore is getting lesser and lesser. Over the last 30 years, turtle nestlings have dwindled by as much as 60%.

What causes the extinction of turtles?

1.) Habitat degradation and destruction.

2.) Incidental and direct capture of turtles.

Incidental:

A sea turtle killed by a fishing line.

Direct:

Turtles killed for their shells and flesh.

3.) Consumption and trade of turtle eggs.

Why humans eat turtle eggs?

Myth: Turtle eggs are believed to provide fertility and serve as an aphrodisiac. Some believe that these eggs provide a nutritious diet.

What scientists say: Turtle eggs contain high amount of cholesterol. One turtle egg contains the same amount of cholesterol as 20 chicken eggs. Besides, the nutritional value is only 50% of a chicken egg, which is a contrary of the believe.

As you can see, the extinction of turtles are mainly caused by human cruelty, if not, indirectly.
Cruel acts such as killing of turtles and turtle eggs consumption should be banned completely.

Back in 2010, WWF Malaysia launched an advocacy campaign for turtles with the title "Egg=Life". Although the title is short but it is straight forward and simple enough for anyone to understand. The message is clear. Each turtle egg represents a life. And a turtle's life is as precious as our lives.

Now, we are given a chance to play a part in conserving the extinction of turtles and put a stop to the consumption of turtle eggs. WWF has held an online effort to amend Malaysia's law and it is our responsibility to support it. Say NO to turtle eggs consumption and let our words be heard.

Let's show our love for turtles by following a few simple steps.

I'm sorry but the campaign is already over. A big thank you to those who supported it!

1.) Click on the link below:

I support the ban of turtle eggs consumption!

2.) Click on the "PLEDGE"button.
3.) Share it with your friends and family who are concerned about preserving wildlife animals.

You're done! It's that simple!

If you're interested to lend a helping hand, WWF do provide internship and volunteering services.

June's Surprises

Friday, June 29, 2012

Hi guys! I'm finally back at home where the internet connection is at a normal rate. Home sweet home.... My hostel's wifi connection is always going at a slowpoke rate that it gives me high blood pressure. Believe me when I described it as a slowpoke. It's so...so........sloooow that the only page I can load is this:

Google Homepage!  -.-''

See how slow it is?!! *Ah.....my blood pressure!* lol

With this kind of slow rate, I've decided to update my blog only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So don't visit my blog during the weekdays, got upset and ask....

Hahaha! Ok......enough nonsense already.

I realised I haven't been blogging actively for the past few months unlike last time when I used to blog more than 15 posts per month. What were I doing all these while? No idea.....probably busy doing nothing.

Like a boss!

Mummy's weird breakfast

Saturday, June 23, 2012

I woke up pretty late this morning because it's SATURDAY and I slept pretty late than usual yesterday. When I got down to where the dining table was, I found that my breakfast was already prepared.
Aww.... mum, that's so nice of you.

But when I take a look at my breakfast,

EGGS WITH GINGER AND COOKED LIVER

WTH was that?

But then my mum's response was:

Gosh mum, how could you compare me to a vampire?

Joke of the day

Mid 2012 kpop rookie singer: Juniel

Thursday, June 14, 2012

想念着茫茫人海中的那一个微笑。 =)

*****

I haven't been listening to any kpop songs for quite sometime and was rather outdated already since allkpop constantly have their readers updated everyday and I don't have the time to read all the articles posted there. Anyway, the point is.....I haven't been updating myself with kpop songs until just recently, a few days ago, I found this!

By korean rookie singer, Juniel.

This one is a duet with C.N.Blue's Yong Hwa. This song is so sweet and relaxing! Love this!

This song is not bad either. Another of my favourite from her album.

Although just a rookie, both of her songs have topping various k-charts. A good start I should say.
If you have listen to her songs, you would realise that her voice sounds like IU and their styles are similar. So you can now start to imagine the fan war(not another again) between IU's fan and Juniel's calling the idols copycats. Actually I have fun reading those comments written by the fans arguing who is better. I know IU is a kpop legend for conquering the kpop industry with her powerful and soothing voice at a young age but honestly, I have never like any of her songs. I just don't like the style. Juniel might not have equally powerful voice like IU but she has her own style so she is in no position to be compared to IU. Both of them are just similar but different. I like Juniel's acoustic ballad style which is always my favourite style of songs. So I hope Juniel will continue to shine(I have a feeling she will no matter how much IU's fan hate her) with this style.

Wow, here I have two 2012 favourite kpop rookie singers Ailee and Juniel. Hmm....I wonder who else will be included in this list? Anyway, my number one favourite singer is still Taeyeon.

Oh yeah! I heard that SNSD is releasing their new music video "Paparazzi" on Youtube today. Do check it out.

My holidays

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

3 weeks of long awaited holidays seems long but for me, holidays are never enough for me no matter how long it is.

I found a piece of note on my messy desk written:

~ Things to do during the holidays ~
  1. Watch korean drama 49 days.
  2. Hangout with my friends.
  3. Shopping.
  4. Get lots of sleep.
  5. Enjoy the holidays! =)

It's the last week of holiday already and I haven't started watching even a single episode of 49 days. Partly the reason is because I still couldn't get to download the total 20 episodes of it and I'm lazy so I just give myself excuses like: I don't have the time.... Finding a suitable day to hangout with my friends proves to be harder than expected. Shopping? Well, I did but I still have a list of things to buy. LOL! Hehe....

Although my holidays are not well spent but at least I did something like baking cookies and cakes. Ah.......I love baking so much! I read books too. The book I read was Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult. It's awesome! A fan of Jodi Picoult's books( I am) will love it. I'll write a review about it soon.

Lastly, not to mention, movies! Yes. Movies as a substitution for dramas. I've been downloading quite some movies lately but my home internet line is so sloooooow *sigh* and I've run out of ideas of what good movies to download.

Maybe you would like to suggest me some good movies to watch? English, chinese, cantonese, korean, japanese movies.....anything, any genre except horror movies. I would appreciate your kindness. *wink* lol
