Korean movie review: My Mighty Princess

Sunday, December 16, 2012

My Mighty Princess isn't your normal high school movie and there's no princess involved. Instead, this movie depicts the life of a girl who has inherited the super natural traits from her parents and she's a martial art prodigy. So you're expected to see some human beings flying around clashing their swords. Yawnage? Not exactly as this movie managed to entertain me for 2 hours. Yup, this is a romance comedy movie.

My Mighty Princess

My Mighty Princess stars Shin Min Ah as Kang So Hwi and On Joo Wan as Il Young.

Here's the summary of the movie:
(Copy and paste from AsianWiki. Opps.....)

Kang So-Hwi, a beautiful martial arts prodigy, is about to embark on a journey into adulthood. But her journey is like no other. Her super-human strength and martial arts prowess scares away her fellow undergrads and even the boy she has fallen for. Devastated, So-Hwi decides to give up martial arts and takes a different path. Her father, a martial artist himself, is afraid of losing an heiress to the family’s martial artistry, and missions So-Hwi’s old buddy Il-Young to persuade her to stay in the field. Meanwhile, the evil Heuk-Bong provokes a war to conquer the martial arts world with the legendary Fine Blade he stole in the past, killing every swordsman one after another. So-Hwi’s father comes to a showdown with Heuk-Bong, but the battle leaves him fatally injured. On the brink of her father’s death, So-Hwi picks up a sword again with a burning desire for revenge.

My review:

As I've mentioned above, this is a romance comedy movie with martial arts involved. So Hwi(Shin Min Ah), the iron girl with super human strength who can bend iron bar, carry huge stones and wouldn't faint when a construction worker accidentally drops a hammer on her head. Haha like wth man... but I cracked up at that scene. LOL

This movie doesn't have much logic as it's only made to garner laughter from viewers so it shouldn't be watched in a serious mode. I felt as if I was watching an anime with real action.

Although the overall story is good, I don't feel the satisfaction that I'll always get when I've watched a great movie. So I guess this movie doesn't fit into my liking. However, I can't help to notice that Shin Min Ah's performance is rather good. I wouldn't say that it's her best since I've never watched any of her other movie or drama before but I'll say My Mighty Princess turns out to be better because of her.

There goes another exam!

Saturday, December 15, 2012

Hi everyone! Today marks the end of my mid-term exams and the countdown of 6 more weeks to
final exams!!

What the heck?!

And not to forget the heaps of assignments still left untouched with due dates that are within weeks from now.

Can I have some rest please?

MMU = NO LIFE
*sigh*

It's the mid of December already, aka the sales month but I still haven't had the time to go shopping.
Please....I'm craving for new year clothes already!

Anyway, mid-term was a mess. Well, not literally but partially.
I can't remember what I did except.....

I looked at the exam questions, then I looked around me. Everyone was busy writing and punching the calculator buttons, so I followed them.

Woohoo~

I have no idea what I was doing...

But I want to say that the I-have-no-idea-what-I'm-doing feeling was awesome!
I have no idea why I was feeling that way.
I must be crazy.

The rest is history.
hoho~

Time, please stop...

Sunday, December 9, 2012

Hello! Here's a short update again. I know I should be studying but I can't concentrate right know so I decided to take a break from studies for awhile. I'll keep this short and sweet, okay?

I can't believe it's December already. Everyone is greeting December like it's the most joyful month of the year. I mean......of course it should be joyful for those who will be celebrating Christmas. But, Christmas falls on Tuesday and I still need to attend classes on Monday and Wednesday, unlike those who are having holidays for the whole month of December. How to enjoy Christmas? Not shiok lor.....

Without me realizing, it's December already, indicating the nearing of 2013 and the end of 2012 soon. And then I'll be 21 by next year. OMG! Why so fast turn 20+?! It's okay la.......my birthday is in September so I'm still 20.....but I feel like I'm still 17 or 18. lol!

I didn't realize I hadn't change my calendar until a month ago(November), I took a look at it and it showed OCTOBER 2011. Lol......why didn't I bother to change it? It's too late to change now since 2012 is ending soon. I'll make sure to get myself a 2013 calendar next year and place it on my desk. I must!

In the midst of a busy life, there were times when I thought to myself.....

How nice if I can go back in time.
How nice if time can stop, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Imagine that. If you were given a chance to go back in life, what will you do? Where will you be?
But time can never stop. I can never go back. Whatever done is done. Life will go on forever, and I shall forever live with it, yeah.....the memories.

I sound emo? A little I guess. Maybe studied too much then brain went haywire. Hahaha!

Anyway, here's a music video with the song title 'Time, please stop'.

This music video depicts a modern version of the Snow White where Snow White isn't typical princess or a good little girl we know all these while from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In this modern era, Snow White is just a girl who loves clubbing a lot. Of course, there are dwarfs, the evil stepmother and the huntsman but in this video, Snow White also has a lover. This is a twisted version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Singer: Davichi
Song title: Time, please stop
(T-ara's Eunjung as Snow White in this video.)

Before the tears fall down, please stop there.
Before the separation comes, please stop there.
Before exam comes, time, please stop there until I finished my studies.
Muahahahaha!!

2012 MAMA in Hong Kong

Sunday, December 2, 2012

Sacrificed my study time yesterday, all thanks to MAMA.
What is MAMA?
MAMA is not mum. =="
MAMA simply means Mnet Asian Music Awards.

MAMA is one of the major k-pop music award ceremonies held annually in asia. It was held in Singapore last year; Hongkong this year.

Well, I'm not really complaining that MAMA is a waste of time because it's not at all. As expected, the stage props, sound system, lighting, and stage performances were awesome!

Adam Lambert's special performance was great. Bigbang was as awesome as always, and PSY, as expected, did his famous horse dance on stage and sang like a king. OPPA GANGNAM STYLE!!
Guys dressed smartly; girls dressed beautifully. Each and everyone who received an award totally deserves the title.

Ailee won her deserved title as the Best New Female Artist 2012. Awesome!

I'm so happy that Davichi won the title of Best Vocal Performance - Group. Beautiful women with powerful vocals. As a fan, I'm so proud of them!

And then I spotted something peculiar. Joker, Two-face and Bane from Batman attended too. LOL! Was there some kind of cosplay going on?

My sister kept telling me that they're Bigbang members. She said:" They even went up stage to collect their award la!". G-Dragon was dressed as Joker, Daesung as Two-face and Bane is............U WANT TO SAY THAT'S TAEYANG?? IT'S IMPOSSIBLE HE GOT TALLER AND FATTER!! Though I thought Two-face really looks like Daesung. Haha.... Then what about TOP and Seungri? Where are they?

I was almost conned into thinking Joker and Two-face are Bigbang members but Bane........impossible la.....

I kept wondering what group is this and couldn't really figure it out until they went up on stage again to collect another award. They were EPIK HIGH! No wonder la there were only three people.

Epik High won an award too for Best Rap Performance.

The overall award ceremony was great but I must say......no matter how awesome it was, I shouldn't have watched it all. I shouldn't have. I should be studying instead. Now, I'm left regretting and wondering how I'm going to face my exam tomorrow. *sigh*

The Unproductive Moments

Friday, November 23, 2012

After weeks of studies, I just realized something really important.

I'm so unproductive!

If numbers can be used to measure my productivity, it would definitely be negative, probably -10 and below!

I just couldn't believe that after attending Financial Accounting & Reporting(FAR) classes for 5 weeks,
I learned nothing.
NOTHING AT ALL.

Sitting through the whole 5 weeks of FAR classes without understanding a thing that was taught is probably one of the most fearful thing I've ever had because mid-term exam is only 2 weeks away.
OH DEAR LORD, WHY???

That's probably because I'm either a slow learner or stupid or lazy.
Maybe it involves all three factors.
*sigh*

That's how unproductive and helpless I am.
hoho~

So, to save myself from this mess, I've decided to put on an effort to study and try to understand FAR.
(Eh....I should have done this a long time ago lah!)

Now, it's time to go back to studies already.
Bye~

AMITOFU!!

AMITOFU!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

SBS upcoming drama "Cheongdamdong Alice"

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

I'm really excited about Park Shi Hoo's drama comeback with Moon Geun Young in the upcoming SBS drama "Cheongdamdong Alice".

Although some may say this pair seems unlikable but I don't see any problem at all. Their age gap seems too wide? Age is not a problem, dude. Age is not a problem.  I've been rooting for Park Shi Hoo ever since The Princess' Man which I even raved about it in a review. Here's my rather long review of The Princess' Man in case you want to know what I raved about.

Korean drama review: The Princess' Man

Here's a short synopsis if you're curious of what this drama is about.

Synopsis:
Han Se Kyung is a talented young designer who lives each day with the motto "Strive for your dream to succeed." until she met Cha Seung Jo, a president of a luxury brand shop in Cheongdamdong who will change her life.

Credit: DramaWiki

Honestly, I really think this pair would look good together. I just wish the drama wouldn't turn out disappointing. But disappointing or not, I'll still watch it anyway just for Park Shi Hoo and Moon Geun Young so who cares? haha

Let's cheers for their upcoming drama, Cheongdamdong Alice, shall we?

Oh wait, here's a hot photo of Park Shi Hoo.

And miss Moon Geun Young.

Plain Friday

Friday, November 9, 2012

My days have been so busy recently even though I'm just at the beginning phase of the trimester that I have to question myself, "Am I in the right course? Should I continue?"

Actually, I've repeatedly asked myself the same question over and over again. Should I just change? Why don't I just change? I can study anything else, banking and finance, marketing, international business, ...... anything easier than accounting. Why still stick to accounting like it's the only option? It's still not too late to change my mind.

But, if I change, then what? Is it the best for me? Is that what I want? Is it guaranteed to be easier? Do I have to waste another year to start another course all over again? I think and think and rethink and finally, I decided: "I tahan la. I have to finish what I have started. All I have to do is just shout TAHAN! TAHAN! for another 4 years and everything will be over."

Anyway, it was a busy day today, rushing around for classes and completing tutorials. Rush, rush, rush and finally, when all those annoying tasks are over and I can finally let myself rest, somebody called.

It was someone from the exam unit department.

"Hello?"
"Hello. I'm miss XXX calling from ERU."
"Um....yeah?"
"I want to inform you that we cannot register you in the tutorial group BM120F because that group is not in the operating system."
"What?"
"We cannot register you because it's not in the operating system. You have to choose other group."
"But...but that's the only group I can attend since other groups are already full or have clashes and I just attended the class just now. No problem ar....only few people...."
"You come here. It'll be easier to explain."
*Explain what? You already said it's the system's problem. So explain what? Explain that........mmu system sucks?*

So I had to walk all the way to ERU and luckily they had a good reason for that. Okay la.......it's not fully the system's fault. I'm partially at fault too for stating my lecture section as 121(old) instead of 120(new) because.....because.........*sigh* long story! Don't want to bore you guys so let's move on. In the end, everything turned out fine and I'm a happy girl again!

Got home today and saw something on my table.

A letter for me? That's rare.

So it's a letter from Google eh..... A scam I guess? Well, better than nothing at all. I used to receive many scam letters from Readers Digest when I was subscribed to it two years ago. My gosh......those were really annoying!

Let's see what I have here......

It's actually a letter encouraging me to use Google Adwords and there's an offer for that. So, what is Adwords about?

Erm......it's hard to explain and I don't want to explain it because I don't understand and I'm not really interested at it.

Thanks Google anyway for the offer but no thanks.

So this is it. You've reach the end. Thanks for reading my blog and good day! Wishing you......

Korean movie review: The Perfect Couple

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

My new trimester is driving me nuts, especially the Monday schedule. I don't know how I survived the first 2 weeks but I did. 3 more months to go so GAMBATEH!!

To compensate the stress and reward myself for surviving yet another hectic week, I've decided to make every Friday/Saturday night a movie night(since I can't watch dramas....so yeah)!

There are actually a lot of movies uploaded on Youtube, be it english movies, chinese movies, korean movies, japanese movies, indian movies or thai movies, they are all there in FULL. However, most of the movies are rather old already(produced in the 200X) but still, it's worth checking them out. Here's a movie I watched on Youtube.

The Perfect Couple

The Perfect Couple aka The Best Romance is a korean movie directed by Kim Jung Woo, starring Hyun Young as journalist Choi Soo Jin and Lee Dong Wook as detective Kang Jae Hyuk.

Choi Soo Jin is a harebrained journalist with an annoying high-pitched voice while detective Kang Jae Hyuk has a cold personality with peak-phobia. Both of them meet through an incident where Soo Jin accidentally pokes Jae Hyuk's abdomen with a fish skewer, something that Jae Hyuk fears immensely. The situation got further complicated when both of them are assigned to produce a reality television program about Jae Hyuk's police work.

My review:

Fast paced, hilarious and enjoyable but lack of romance.
Can I change the title? This movie should be called The Crazy Couple instead of The Prefect Couple.

That gaze! That gaze! *faint* lol

Since this movie is able to lighten my mood and make me feel happy, I have no complaints because it's fine even without much romance. There isn't a dull moment as the movie moved on quickly from scenes to scenes that's sure to make you laugh. Not to mention, some cool actions from Lee Dong Wook towards the end of the movie, which is a plus. Oh, can I change the movie title? It should be The Crazy Couple instead of The Prefect Couple.

The only thing that bugs me is Hyun Young's voice. I even read a comment on Youtube commenting: "The movie would be even better if the girl is a mute." Hahaha! So bad!

Despite the lack of romance, an unspeakable onscreen chemistry seems to exist between the two actors. Strange, huh?

Overall, I enjoyed this movie very much. It was much better than I expected.

Thanks a lot for reading guys!

Back to blogging

Saturday, November 3, 2012

It has been a long, long time since my last blog update and I can barely remember when was the last interesting post that I wrote. Oh wait, was there any interesting ones? Never mind. This is my blog anyway so who cares?

Holiday came and went by just like that and all I did was just one post throughout the holiday. It's not like I was really busy. I was actually just busy doing NOTHING. I actually tried to update my blog but somehow they all just ended up as drafts instead. There's no idea or motivation whatsoever for me to continue writing those posts so they all ended up rotting in my draft box. Let's just say I'm lazy as hell. Yeah....that's the best excuse I can give. Or maybe I've found a better hobby than blogging that is knitting. I'm turning into a granny! Ok let's not talk about that.

I'm surprised that despite the lack of updates, there are still some returning visits(yes I track you people). Maybe they are just visits from people I know but still, I want to thank them and let them know that I greatly appreciate their support. Thankiu! Thankiu! Thankiu! hahaha! You guys must be disappointed at each visit to my blog. Don't worry! I'm back now, all fresh and lively once again!

(Actually I'm lying about being lively. Who knows I'll feel so worn out starting from the second week of trimester onwards?)

I can't guarantee that my blog will be as active as before but...............but.....................ok I'll try my best to update whenever I can, ok? lol

My new trimester's schedule is driving me crazy, I doubt I can update my blog twice a week like I did before. I think once a week should be sufficient enough. Sometimes I wonder how some people can update their blogs DAILY. I don't mean niche blogs but personal blogs. What do they write about? Don't they have other things to take care of, such as studies, assignments, exams, work, etc? Is their everyday that happening? Unless they're full-time bloggers then I have nothing to say. Or maybe they treat their blog as a diary.

And then, there are people who gain popularity and earn bucks from blogging. How legit is this?

Here are some famous bloggers who do just that:
(Actually there are many but I'll just list some. You know, I'm lazy. Zzz.......haha!)

Xiaxue: Ok everyone knows who she is(at least for bloggers). She's a singaporean blogger. A friend of mine introduced her blog to me a long time ago but I rarely read it. It's lengthy with lots of rants and raves but entertaining enough. Avid blog readers will enjoy reading it.

Kenny Sia: One of my favorite malaysian blogger.  Hilarious and entertaining.

Chuckei: Was browsing a forum out of boredom and the people were talking about chuckei so this is how I came to know about this blogger. Her name is Jane Lau. Her blog is just ordinary, nothing interesting. Perhaps famous as a beautiful blogger?

QiuQiu: Her name is Bong Qiu Ting I think. She's a friend of Xiaxue so apparently she's a famous blogger too. Anyway, I love visiting her blog, I don't know why.

Somehow, these bloggers did have something about themselves or their blogs and some special formula that make it possible for them to be famous.

Anyway, if by chance, you're a loyal blog reader of mine, *ahem* you would have noticed something extra on the right column of my blog beneath the blog translator. Yes. Adsense is back again after being advertorial-free for 4 months! =D

And you would also notice that the chatbox has disappeared. The reason why I removed it was because of the loads of spam messages. LOOK!

What the hell is with this stupid chatbox? What Lady Gaga? What Britney Spears? What Miley Cyrus blablablabla Spice Girls? wth? You all can go RIP!

So in the end I just get rid of it because I cannot stand it anymore. My blog doesn't need a chatbox anyway. NO PEOPLE TO CHAT WITH ME! *sob*

Anyway, just want to say I'm back to blogging and thanks for reading!

Korean drama review: Rooftop prince

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

Finally found the time to watch the korean drama everyone was raving about. Rooftop Prince was one of the popular drama in 2012 that went viral because of it's interesting plot with a handful of slapstick humor. Here's the summary if you haven't watch it and are curious to know what is it about.

Synopsis:
When Crown Prince Lee Gak is transported 300 years into the future to present day Seoul along with his three retainers, they believe that it is their duty to solve the murder case of the Crown Princess in order to return to Joseon.

They land in the rooftop apartment of Park Ha, a cheerful woman in her mid-20s, who eventually believes the odd quartet's predicament and becomes their guardian. As Park Ha educates the four on life in the 21st century, Lee Gak comes across Hong Se Na, who seems to be the reincarnation of his wife. Taking on the identity of Yong Tae Yong, Lee Gak slowly begins to unravel the murder of Yong Tae Yong and in turn moves closer to solving the murder case of the Crown Princess.

As he finds himself in love with Park Ha, he figures that maybe the Crown Princess was not so perfect after all...

Source: DramaWiki

My review:

Looking for something lighthearted? Then this drama is for you.

This is a comedy romance drama with many comical moments but do expect the existence of villains that can constantly get on your nerves. It seems like villains are important elements in every drama. They spice up the drama, keeping viewers till the last episode just to see what kind of punishment they will get.

Honestly, I find this drama a little draggy at the beginning. Well, it was okay for the first few episodes but it started to get draggy in the following episodes with numerous flashbacks here and there. There are too many flashbacks in this drama. I'm sorry but I don't like dramas that have a lot of flashbacks because I think drama flashbacks are only meant for the last episode. I even once stopped myself at episode 11 and wonder if I should continue watching this drama because you know, the story isn't really getting anywhere. All you'll see for the first 10 episodes is how the prince and his three retainers adapt to the new world, how horrible Se Na and Tae Moo is, and the lovey dovey relationship between the prince and Park Ha.

The only thing that kept me watching was because of Park Yoo Chun's acting skills. Or should I say.....I like his character. Hoho~

Thank god, the writer finally decides to get the ball rolling faster and the story soon accelerates from episode 14 onwards.

Things start to get interesting when Prince Lee Gak discovers the pieces of truth and evidence and figures out the reason behind himself being transported into the future. Solving the Crown Princess' murder case isn't his only mission. He must also find out the reason behind his reincarnated self, Yong Tae Yong's disappearance, and the death of Yong Tae Yong's grandmother. Ah, yes.....he finally found out the main reason for his arrival to the present day of Seoul, that is to meet Park Ha.

Again, the drama slows down towards the ending. Again, flashbacks and flashbacks. It's like a 12 episode drama made into a 20 episode length drama.

Everything in this drama is rather predictable and has little suspense. You know what's going to happen even before it's revealed. You know what the villains are up to. We, the viewers, know almost everything about the truth. The only one who doesn't know a thing is Prince Lee Gak.

The ending?

[spoiler alert]
Like I said, it's kind of predictable. By the time you've reached episode 18, you can already guess who is the one who got drowned in the Joseon murder case and everything that happened back in Joseon. All these are based on the simple theory shown by the drama. If Hwa Yong and Bu Yong were sisters in Joseon, then like their past life, Se Na and Park Ha are sisters too in their present life. There's a similar connection between the past and the present so it's easy to deduce what happened in the present could have happened in the past. So in the end, the Joseon people vanished and gone back to where they were from at the first place. Everyone lived their lives as before, except for Prince Lee Gak who had to live his life all alone, grieving for his love. As for Park Ha, she gets to meet Tae Yong. But does she sees Tae Yong as Tae Yong, or the prince she loved?

It's a decent ending although it doesn't give me the "OMG.... that ending!" kind of feeling.

Anyway, this drama lives up to what it claims as a comedy romance drama. Lots of romance, lots of funny scenes. No tears, no worries. Good to watch for a boost of endorphin. (All thanks to the three comical retainers!)

Advantage:
- It's funny.
- No tears, no worries.

Disadvantage:
- Kinda draggy
- Not much logic
- Lack of suspense
- Not intriguing enough

**This is just my 100% honest opinion about the drama. I apologize if I've offended fans out there.

Happy birthday to myself

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Just a quick post to wish myself...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

#foreveralone

*sob*

I always wonder which korean celebrity shares the same birth date as me? There are about hundreds of korean celebrities out there so there must be someone but..... it seems like there's none at all

Then yesterday, I found out that Song Joong Ki's birthday is on the 19th September, just 3 days away from my birthday. Not exact but near. OK! I'll accept that.

So, happy birthday in advance, Joong Ki oppa!!

Ah.....what a cute pose!

Dramas to watch after exams!

Monday, September 10, 2012

I'm supposed to work hard and study for exams BUT I can't help thinking what I should do after the dreadful final exams. To be specific, I'm thinking of what drama to watch. Heheh...

Korean drama 49days is definitely first in my to-watch list as I've already downloaded 7 episodes and I heard it's a recommended drama to watch. Followed by 49days would be the chinese drama Scarlet Heart(步步惊心), highly recommended by my friends. Hmm.....not sure if these dramas are my cup of tea but I'll still give them a try. Well, what's next? Perhaps Bridal Mask? This recent KBS drama has been receiving many high praises, not for the plot but the actors and actresses. My sister loves it so much and said it is the best drama. Hmm.....might give it a shot.

Bridal Mask finally concludes it last episode on KBS and a whole new drama Nice Guy will start soon. I just found out that Song Joong Ki and Moon Chae Won are the main casts for this new drama Nice Guy. I've only seen Song Joong Ki's act in Sungkyunkwan Scandal but I heard he's pretty good, probably because of Deep Rooted Tree. Well, I haven't watch Deep Rooted Tree yet but I heard it's another good drama too. Hmm....another drama to add to my to-watch list. As for Moon Chae Won, I love her after watching The Princess' Man.

I was deciding to root for this drama until I read the plot...

A man is betrayed by the woman he loves. To exact revenge, the man uses another woman who lost her memory ....

Oh my! This plot sounds kinda lame. Not another A Love To Kill? Sorry to A Love To Kill fans, but that drama totally bores me. I didn't even watch past 3 episodes. Definitely not my cup of tea.

Anyway, this drama hasn't even aired so it's really too early for me to judge. I'm only hoping this drama will not be a major disappointment. That's all. Perhaps, this drama might take me by surprise like what The Princess' Man did? I thought TPM was a lame drama when I read it's simple plot. I said "Ah....Romeo and Juliet!" but the whole drama really took me by surprise to no end. Anyway, I'll still keep any eye on this new drama just for Moon Chae Won.

There's a new drama that I'm even more anticipate about. it's Cheongdam Dong Alice, casting main leads Park Shi Hoo and Moon Chae Won. Wow! My favorites! Totally fell for Park Shi Hoo after watching TPM and am definitely rooting for him no matter what the drama plot is. Oh....I miss that pair of sexy eyes and killer smile. With Park Shi Hoo and Moon Geun Young as leads, I believe a drama can't be any worse, can it? I have faith in both of them!

What happened to my blog traffic?

Saturday, September 8, 2012

I have been very, very busy for the past few weeks. Still am btw because final exams are coming closer and closer to me in about 10 more days. Finally rushed and completed all my assignments. Phew!! Now, it's time to concentrate on my studies no matter how I hate studying. Gotta force myself ar!! Jiayou~ Gambateh~ Fighting~

(*sigh* It's really hard to concentrate on my studies when I'm still in a holiday mood.)

Jiayou~ Jiayou~ Jiayou~

Then why am I here?

Because I'm forced to save my blog from a devastating crash!

I have been away from my blog for quite some time already since I'm really busy with my school life these few days. The last time I blogged was on the 18th August so I have abandoned my blog for 20 days. I didn't care to check out my blog until yesterday. I was like "OMG! What happened to my blog stats?"

An average of 30 unique visitors was what I thought as a normal rate for my blog and I thought it wouldn't decline any further, right? But my blog stats proved I was wrong. It continues to parachute further down to 20. That is quite a devastating news for me as there was a time when my blog hit a peak at 83 unique visitors and enjoyed an average of 50 for a certain period of time.

I know blog statistics doesn't increase steadily(especially for lazy bloggers like me). There's always ups and downs, just like our life.  It's pretty impossible to live a happy life forever, yet we can't stand living a bad, devastated life either.

It's hard to maintain the optimum blog traffic especially when you're occupied with stuffs other than blogging. Ironically, those busy moments were also the times when I had the most ideas for blogging. When I'm free, my mind goes blank. Oh why brain, why?

I definitely don't want to watch my blog statistics head to the ground so I'm forced to sacrifice some of my precious study time to blog.

Obviously, this event has lead me into doing more research on how to maintain a blog traffic so here are some good tips I found from the internet.

How to maintain blog traffic:

Blog consistently
2 to 3 posts per week should be enough to maintain your blog traffic and keep your followers updated. Failing to do so might risk you a potential follower as readers are more likely to lose interest on your blog rather quickly. If you are looking for ways to optimize traffic, try writing an entry per day.

Prepare backup post entries
There will be days when you are so busy or don't feel like blogging at all. There will also be days when you have so many ideas to blog about that you don't know where to start from. That is the time when you should pen down these ideas and start writing some backup entries so that your blog will not face any post crisis when you don't have the time to blog.

Make use of social medias
Both Twitter and Facebook are the best ways to spread your articles and increase blog traffic even during hectic times. Sharing service such as Twitterfeed is a quick and easy way to share your posts without much hassle.

Okay, basically these are the 3 main ideas that I think are important for anyone who wished to achieve a desirable blog stats. They are also a great way to boost your blog traffic if used strategically.

p.s: Vietnam trip posts coming soon after my final~ Please look forward to it!!!

Love,
Amber

From bad to worse

Saturday, August 18, 2012

The pain from my left leg persists so I was brought to see a physiotherapist. After some checking, asking me to turn here and there, the doctor revealed my condition as having a minor slipped disk that will probably take a month to recover.  Oh my holly god. A slipped disk? Ah, I thought it was just a sprain. Thank you god for your 'blessings'. Duh.....

I guess it's the consequence for not bending while lifting heavy things.

Good news & bad news

Hello to everyone and my loyal readers! (I know you're out there reading this!)

I'm really sorry that my recent blog posts are all pretty plain and boring lately. I just couldn't find enough time to write anything more interesting than the normal I-did-this-today kind of post. Usually, I'd spend an average of 6 hours writing an (I hope you find it) interesting post. So, obviously, with my current hectic schedule, I couldn't get myself to spend as much time as I want to blogging anymore. I think the kind of I-did-this-today post is the easiest way to get my blog updated and it doesn't take as much time to write one.

So, this is going to be another short I-did-this-today kind of post. Oh wait, I'm not going to show you what I did as I did nothing special. All I want is to update you with a good news and a bad news.

OK. Good news first.

I'm going for a family trip to Vietnam in tow more days!! Woohoo!!! I'm so excited!

Heck, I don't really know what or where is this place but I guess it's Ho Chi Minh City, as stated by TripAdvisor.

Now the bad news is.....

I sprained my left thigh.

%@$^#%%^$#@!!!!!!!! How the heck am I suppose enjoy a trip with a sprained thigh?!

But I guess I don't have any other choice than to go on a trip with a sprained leg. *sigh*

Time to get some rest already and hopefully, I'll feel much better tomorrow.

Cheers!

Assignments, assignments, assignments! Studies, studies and studies?! Such is the pathetic life as a student. When will these never ending boredom stop?!

I just had 2 'awesome' exams today. Felt so tired, almost KO after the exams. So I decided to chill in my room. Somehow, my awesome mind decided that there wasn't any class this evening until my housemate asked: "You got no more class already ah?"

"Yeah!" I replied, and suddenly I remembered something. Quickly, I search for my timetable and glimpse through it. Gosh! I missed a class!!! doh.gif

WTH is going on with my mind?

*sigh* Load of assignments are still waiting for me to kick their ass.

Assignments!! Let me kick your asses and fly sky high!

Words of a proud malaysian to Datuk Lee Chong Wei

Monday, August 6, 2012

Just finished watching the Olympics badminton match between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan.

I remembered watching his final Olympics match against Lin Dan 4 years ago and I can say that he had improved leaps and bounds to be able to compete with the world's no.1 badminton player Lin Dan. But......luck wasn't on our side.

Lin Dan won with 21-15, 10-21, 19-21.

*sigh*

Lee Chong Wei was just 2 points away.

All of us malaysians were really disappointed and sad, not because he didn't played well. Not because we couldn't get the promised free Baskin Robbin ice cream.

It was the clear hard work, potential and determination that all of us witnessed. Despite recovering from injuries, he still gave his full effort to fight for a gold medal for his country.

The moment Lin Dan won and ran around the court in celebration, Chong Wei just sat down on the floor, exhausted and clearly disappointed.

It was such a heartbreaking scene for us to watch him so disappointed. I just want to give him a tight hug and tell him: "It's okay! We know you did your best and we are so so so proud of you!!!" I'm sure that was what his coach said to him.

Awww....... ='(

Our Datuk Lee Chong Wei couldn't hold his tears of disappointment.

This is what he tweeted after the match.

No! Don't say sorry to us!! All we want is a smile from you!! We are so proud and happy for you!! In fact, we are the ones who should be thankful. Thank you for that awesome match. It's the best that I've ever seen!

Lin Dan once said: “有一种失利叫美丽,有一种银牌叫金牌。”

Let me translate: There is a kind of failure, called beauty. A silver, called gold.

Of course he is referring to Chong Wei.

Some people call him a failure. Some say he looks like a mouse. We don't care for he has given us something precious called pride.

A true champion doesn't always win. A true champion is always determined and brave enough to stand up after each fall. That's our badminton hero, Datuk Lee Chong Wei!

Fact: Lee Chong Wei gained almost 100k followers in a day(today). Like WOW!! haha~

Who will win the London Olympics 2012 badminton match? Lee Chong Wei or Lin Dan?

Saturday, August 4, 2012

The moment when Chen Long made a mistake and the shuttlecock hit the badminton net, triumph rose and the Facebook page was flooded with statuses congratulating our dear Datuk Lee Chong Wei for successfully entering the Olympics London 2012 badminton final.

I really can't believe 4 years passed this fast. It's like a blink of an eye and here I am again in 2012, watching his badminton semi-final match at the comforts of my home.

Although I'm pretty confident that it'll be a sure win for Lee Chong Wei vs Chen Long, I still felt tense while watching his live match. You know, there's always a (tiny) possibility that he might lose to Chen Long for some whatever reasons. CHOI!!! *touchwood* LOL!

But of course our Malaysian badminton superstar Lee Chong Wei won the match scoring 21-13, 21-14.
Lee Chong Wei! We, the Malaysian, are so proud of you and we wish you the best of luck in the final match!

So who will Chong Wei be playing against? That person is no other than China's great Lin Dan.

What is going to happen in the 2012 Olympics final? Who will win? Lin Dan? Or Chong Wei? Nobody can really tell for sure although I agree that the chances of winning for Lin Dan is greater than Chong Wei but really, no one can tell. What is something like this happens in the final match?

I am proud that he has already secure a silver medal for himself but as a Malaysian, I really, really wish he will win so that he can make us even prouder. And best of all, all Malaysians will be entitled a scoop of FREE Baskin Robbins ice-cream (my favorite!!) if he brings home a gold medal. Don't believe? Read the article here. Basically, most of the Malaysians are excited for his win because of the Baskin Robbins giveaway. TRUE STORY. Hahah~

Will Chong Wei bag home a gold medal and make our dreams come true this time? We will see about that in the coming final.

Just a short video of Lee Chong Wei doing his daily training. It seems like he's taking it really easy, running around the court. And wth did he do at 1:20? I would have hit the floor instead. Just saying.

Note: This sale is valid to all outlets in Malaysia.

Yes! Something to be noted in my calendar. Etude House will be having their 40% mega sales in Malaysia! Woohoo~

I've been planning to buy some Etude House products for myself ever since months ago but never had a chance to drop by the shop.

I'd seen some examples of their nail polish and really love them, especially the pink ones. Lets take a look at the various shades of pink they have.

*currently obsessed with pink color*
The effect of looking at xiaxue's blog for too long? lol

Since I'm talking about pink over here, I'm going to share about this cute thing I just found out a few seconds ago.

Guess what this is? It's Etude House's solid perfume called Pink Candy. Aww......what a cute packaging!

OK. Enough of pinky stuffs already. Will post more next time. LOL!

Bye!

That frustrating & disappointing moment

Friday, July 27, 2012

Yes. I'm frustrated and disappointed with myself.

That frustrating moment when I found out my one week holiday is near the end, I still have so much things to do(assignments, homework, studies, etc) and all I did was studying the 2 chapters of Management.

That disappointing moment when I realized how inefficient I am.

*takes Management textbook and.....*

SERVES YOU RIGHT! SERVES YOU RIGHT!!

ROARRR!!!!!!!

*cools down and start......*

OK.

It's time to chill & relax.
Who cares about assignments or management exam or whatever exams?

It's movie time~
BYE!
*picks a bar of chocolate and nom.. nom... nom....*

CROSS GENE's debut performance + Can you spot the kpop blooper moment?

Sunday, July 22, 2012

So here comes another new kpop group from the korean music industry.

Introducing~

CROSS GENE
(Another weird group name.. haha)

I agree that many kpop group nowadays do have really weird names such as Beast, F.Cuz, Ukiss, 2am, 2pm, 4minute, f(x), C.N.Blue, After School, 2ne1, errrr...............and what else?

If you're new to the world of kpop, or trying to introduce these kpop groups to your non-kpop fan friends, they would probably say, "WTH name is that?" "Why that name?" and "Why are there so many groups?"

Yes, I do agree that the kpop music industry is getting a little too saturated nowadays with more than 5 groups debuting each year.

Let me bring you back to year 2008, when I was first introduced to the kpop world by my friends. Back then, I only knew about popular groups like TVXQ, Super Junior, Girl's Generation and Wonder Girls. BoA is the only female solo singer I knew other than Rain, who also famous after starring in the famous korean drama 'Full House'. I'm pretty sure you have watched 'Full House' before. If you didn't, hmm........I don't know but 'Full House' was the first korean drama that I enjoyed watching with my family. Dae Jang Geum(Jewel in the Palace) too!

Ok, come back, come back......what was I introducing already?

Oh, it's CROSS GENE.

Since the amount of kpop groups debuting per year is too much for me, it's hard for me to keep up with all the new groups and songs, not to mention my own life. I've never heard of this group before until I watched the recent korean drama 'Big' did I knew the existence of this group. (Actually, this group just debuted this year) One of the CROSS GENE members acted in that korean drama and through some Youtube comments only that I found out about it.

That's him, the CROSS GENE member, Shin Won Ho in the korean drama 'Big'.

Alright, alright, here's the video for their debut performance.

Did you watch it?

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Seriously, I was laughing all the way at their super weird dance choreography. Was like "What the...? LOL!!! Ahaha!!!" All the way. Actually, I felt a little pitiful for them because a debut performance is suppose to be cool or attractive enough for audience to take a new group seriously but I just can't believe they got this kind of choreography + their song isn't that nice to my ears. It must be quite a disappointment for thier fans. Oh well, they have lots time for improvement so I'll wish them good luck in the competitive music industry.

p/s: Can you spot that blooper moment?

I'm just wondering if he did that accidentally or on purpose? LOL...
